Tactical Leadership Programme (TLP) Flying Course 21-4 is being held at Los Llanos Air Base in Albacete through the end of November and the beginning of December. TLP is permanently located at Los Llanos Air Base, Spain, and is an advanced flying and tactics school for combat aviation, is the European equivalent to US Navy’s Top Gun or USAF’s Fighter Weapons School. The main goal of the TLP courses is the advanced training in tactical leadership and planning for fighter pilots and aerial controllers during complex composite air operations (COMAO) where a large number of fighter and support assets take part.
During TLP flying course 21-4 the Royal Navy F-35B Lightning II operating from aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth and USMC F-35B operating from NAS Rota will take part in some of the missions of the course. Participating aircraft in TLP 21-4 are Eurofighter and Tornado from Luftwaffe (German Air Force), Eurofighter from Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare), Harrier from Italian Naval Aviation, Mirage 2000-5 and 2000D from French Air Force (Armee de l’Air), EF-18M Hornet from Spanish Air Force, F-16C Viper from Hellenic Air Force, a NATO AWACS E-3 Sentry and a Learjet business jet performing the role of electronic warfare aggressor.
